TNO Energy, Maritime & Offshore
TNO (Nederlandse Organisatie voor toegepast-natuurwetenschappelijk Onderzoek TNO) is one of the major contract research organisations in Europe. With a staff of approximately 3500 and an annual turnover of 580 million Euros, TNO is carrying out research in order to achieve impact on the following seven themes: Healthy Living, Industrial Innovation, Transport and Mobility, Energy, Built Environment, Information Society, and Defence, Safety and Security.
TNO functions as an intermediary between basic research organisations and industry. By translating scientific knowledge into practical applications, TNO contributes to the innovation capacity of (small and medium sized) businesses and government. TNO is involved in many international projects (about 30% of the market turnover), including EU-funded collaborations.
In the theme of Energy, applied research is carried out in cooperation with the industry, in the areas of Energy Efficiency, Oil and Gas, Raw Materials and Maritime and Offshore. The expertise covers relevant technological aspects as well as the influence of human behaviour.
In the research group of Maritime and Offshore, the main activities include laboratory facilities for experimental test and trials (mechanical and human), the facilitation of alternative solutions within prevailing regulations and the development of new technologies and calculation models. TNO provides knowledge and solutions for the sustainable exploration of the world’s oceans with a strong focus on:
- Safe, reliable and cost-effective man-machine operations in extreme environments;
- Development of sustainable solutions and a license to operate;
- Prediction and extension of life-time asset performance.
Transport Systems Catapult
The Transport Systems Catapult is one of seven elite technology and innovation centres established and overseen by the UK's innovation agency, Innovate UK.
We were created to drive and promote Intelligent Mobility – using new and emerging technologies to transport people and goods more smartly and efficiently.
We are helping UK businesses create products and services that meet the needs of the world's transport systems as they respond to ever-stretching demands. We help sell UK capability on the global stage, while also promoting the UK as a superb test bed for the transportation industry.
With a clear emphasis on collaboration, we are bringing together diverse organisations across different modes of transport, breaking down barriers and providing a unique platform for meeting the world's most pressing transport challenges.
Transver GmbH
TRANSVER was founded in 1995 with the aim of implementing scientific innovations in the field of traffic engineering and traffic planning in practice.
The highly qualified team of traffic and software engineers continually extend the wide range of TRANSVER procedures and software products. New quantitative models and methods for the detection, examination and evaluation of traffic data for the design, control and optimisation of traffic facility are employed.
TSS-Transport Simulation Systems
TSS-Transport Simulation Systems (TSS) has a single focus on algorithms, software and operational know-how for mobility applications in strategic transport planning, traffic engineering and mobility management. TSS develops and markets the Traffic simulation software Aimsun: since it includes micro, meso, macro and 4 step moduls in a single platform, it represents the perfect tool to support studies and research projects at strategic or even operational level. TSS is actually partner of 3 major research projects: uTraq (development of a real time decision support system aiming at best possible joint reduction of congestion and emissions, FLOURISH focused on analysis of behaviour and impact of autonomous vehicles with Traffic modelling tools and SETA aiming to optimize use of big data in mobility management. | |
