CEMOSA is an engineering consultancy and quality control company (SME) in the field of construction, including transport infrastructure and building which was born 44 years ago. Its headquarters are in Malaga (Spain), and it includes 9 national offices and 6 international offices (Brazil, Panama, Colombia, Chile, Equator and Bolivia). The company comprises the following business lines: 1) Transport Infrastructures Engineering, 2) Geotechnical engineering 3) Building and Industrial Engineering, 4) Construction Material Quality Control, 5) Health and Safety Coordination, 6) Product Certification and 7) Research & Innovation. The research and innovation department works jointly with the technical staff in other areas of the compan y.

CEMOSA has a consolidated experience in Research & Innovations projects funded by the EU (FP7 and H2020) and the Spanish Government. Its role in R&D projects covers both technical and dissemination activities. It has experience as Project Coordinator, as Dissemination Manager and as partner.

CREAFUTUR is a private foundation promoted by the Government of Catalonia and ESADE Business School. Its mission is to promote and foster innovation in businesses and institutions, understanding people’s future needs and the trends shaping the market, to help detect and disseminate new areas of opportunity through new products, new services, new business models and new communication strategies. All Creafutur projects aim a putting the customer, the user and/or the citizen at the heart of the innovation process.

Creafutur accumulates a wide experience in mobility sector, with special focus on user needs characterization, new mobility concepts evaluation and identification of future business opportunities in urban mobility services.

PROJECTS:

• smartCEM project (CIP ICT-PSP 2012): Four European cities/regions (Barcelona, Gipuzkoa-San Sebastian, Newcastle and Reggio Emilia) come together under the project smartCEM (Smart Connected ElectroMobility) to demonstrate the role of ICT solutions to overcome the limitations of electromobility for cities and citizens. Barcelona pilot consisted on an electric scooter sharing service (MOTIT). More info: www.smartcem-project.eu
• Smart Mobility project (2011-2012): Creafutur and the Barcelona City Council performed an in-depth study to evaluate the citizens’ needs in terms of mobility and assess the feasibility of deploying an electric vehicle shared service in Barcelona.
• The user of future's train: Smart Mobility (2014-2015): Creafutur carried out a project for the Catalan railway cluster (Railgrup) that aimed to find innovative solutions for rail transport from user needs and main industry trends.
• Urban Mobility project in Barcelona (2013-2016): Creafutur is coordinating periodic workshops between a European automotive OEM and regional authorities in order to identify and conceptualise future mobility services in the city.
• G-MOTIT (2015-2016): a H2020 project that aims to enhance an innovative electric scooter sharing system for urban mobility with EGNSS-based location technology. MOTIT is an innovative service that has been developed in order to solve mobility problems in the city of Barcelona and potentially major metropolitan areas in Europe. The aim of DESTination RAIL is to provide solutions for a number of problems faced by EU infrastructure managers. Novel techniques for identifying, analysing and remediating critical rail infrastructure will be developed. These solutions will be implemented using a decision support tool, which allows rail infrastructure managers to make rational investment choices, based on reliable data, See Figure 1. At present Infrastructure Managers make safety critical investment decisions based on poor data and an over-reliance on visual assessment. As a consequence their estimates of risk are therefore highly questionable and large-scale failures are happening with increasingly regularity. As the European rail Infrastructure network ages, investment becomes more challenging. As a result reliability and safety are reduced, users perception of these is negative and the policy move to increased use of rail transport is unsuccessful. The objective of this project (safer, reliable and efficient rail infrastructure) will be achieved through a holistic management tool based on the FACT (Find, Analyse, Classify, Treat) principle.
